PURPOSE

As part of the student curation team for the Melbourne School of Design Exhibition (MSDX) showcase, our team was assigned a high-traffic yet spatially restricted footprint under a main staircase. Half of the group managed a digital setup, leaving our team with limited physical space to display hundreds of diverse student projects, ranging from botanical relief studies and sketchbooks to laminated plant specimens.

APPROACH

Rather than installing a flat, overcrowded wall display, we designed interactive, multi-page tactile booklets showcasing printed final works, process sketches, and real plant materials. By suspending these booklets at staggered heights under the staircase, we transformed a tight space into an immersive, draped installation that maximised display capacity, improved accessibility, and invited hands-on interaction. All images displayed below have been taken by me, using my FUJIFILM X100VI camera, with many of them featured on the official MSD social instagram page. This exhibit was awarded commendation for Best Multimedia Exhibit.
